Hoping to activate King Arthurs Round Table G-532 on Monday, 30th December 2013 WX dependant. King Arthurs Round Table is a prehistoric circular earthwork bounded by a ditch and an outer bank, at Eamont bridge, just South of Penrith, and about 400 metres from Mayburgh Henge. It consists of an irregular bank surrounding a circular ditch some 12 metres wide and 1.5 metres deep. In the seventeenth century two standing stones were recorded near the northern entrance, though both are now long since gone, and this part of the henge lies beneath the road to Ullswater. The site has nothing whatever to do with the legendary king it is named after (predating him by at least 2500 years) Would hope to be QRV for approximately 1000 hrs on both 20/40M and 2M FM. Further details to follow. I would also once qualifying King Arthurs Round Table hope to activate a further location in the locallity, but again, as yet undecided on this but will post details once confirmed 73's Ian 2E0EDX

With having the next two Mondays off work, the opportunity to activate afew more CASHOTA locations is to strong to ignore. Therefore WX dependant, I will hopefully travel north on the M6 to activate both King Arthurs Round Table G-532 and Mayburgh Henge G-533 after previously cancelling these two activations last December due to extremely poor WX.
I would hope to activate G-532 first on 40M SSB with a QRV time of 1000 Hrs +/- 1/2 hour and then continue to the Mayburgh Henge for the second activation of the day.
CASHOTA Ref: G-533 WAB: NY52 Loc: IO84PP
After a sucessful activation I will post photographs on the CASHOTA 'Gallery' if the website has been re-established.

Up early and soon heading north on the A6/M6 towards Penrith. Roads were in the main very quiet for a Monday morning and the total distance of 72 miles to King Arthurs Round Table took just over an hour and a half which was good going indeed. On arrival set-up at a lay-by approximately 50 meters from the Mayburgh Henge and walked the 400M back towards King Arthurs Round Table, however, parking on the pavement area on Mayburgh Close can be sought which is oposite the field to this CASHOTA location. Entered the field and walked into the prehistoric circular earthwork and set-up in the ditch area.Listened around the 40M band and found it very quiet, however, although hearing 'G' stations I found that their signals were fluctuating between 59 and dissapearing into the noise. Anyway was QRV at 1000 hrs working the following stations: G7AFM Phil Hereford M1TRC/M Chris SP58 M0YMA/A Andy SU85 G0GMY Paul SZ48 G0BFJ Brian SE11 M0MUF Steve ST85 G0ABY Phil NZ41 G0FVH David SY99 GA14CG Gary NS89 G7AFM/M Phil SO62 Equipment used: Yaesu FT-857 SOTAbeams 20/40M Linked Dipole inverted 'V' SOTAbeams 10M Travel Mast 12V 12AHr Battery 50W Output All in all a very pleasant activation close to Eamont Bridge and the Mayburgh Henge. Photographs of the activation can be found on the following websites: www.cqportable.webs.comwww.cashota.co.ukCASHOTA Northwest England Group Thanks to all stations worked, especially the WAB Net which allowed me to enter new squares in the book. Packed all equipment away and rucksack on it was back to the car for a drink & butty and the short walk to the Henge. I hope to be out later in the week activating another local WW2 defence postion. Details to follow. 73's Ian 2E0EDX
