This pillbox is in the grounds of the Blackpool South Shore Cricket Club and can be clearly visible from Common Edge Road on the (B5261)at the eastern end of Blackpool International airport. CASHOTA Ref:G-459

Such a great day today, with the WX very warm and sunny decided to carryout both recces of Blackpool International Airport pillboxes (1) & (2). Carried out a recce of this location this afternoon and took a few photos which can be viewed in the main CASHOTA photo 'Gallery' or on the CQportable website.
Parking can be undertaken on either at the junction with Common Edge Road and the lane leading upto the entrance to the South Shore Cricket Club or on the club car park approximately 100M away.
It is certainly viable to erect a wire dipole next to the pillbox, but, I would imagine permission from the club may be required.

After carrying out a sucessfull recce of this location along with Blackpool International Airport Pillbox (2), I now intend to activate both pillboxes (1) & (2) on Monday,21st July 2014.
WX dependant, I will activate Pillbox (1) first and would hope to be QRV at 0900 Hrs (L) +/- 1/2 hour.
I will be using 20/40M SSB and would hope to work forum members
