Blackpool International Airport Pillbox (2) is located at the end of an old access/emergency road and within the airfield perimater fence. With Blackpool airport close to what was the old Vickers factory which built Wellington bombers during the war, I would imagine that this pillbox would have been built for airport security and the threat from German invasion from Ireland. CASHOTA Ref:G-460

Loc:IO83LSWould hope to activate this pillbox along with Blackpool International Airport Pillbox (1) over the next week or two. Recce carried out this afternoon and photos placed on the main CASHOTA website in the photo 'Gallery' or can be viewed on the CQportable website. Once at the junction of Common Edge Road and the Emergency access point and lane at the Blackpool International Airport Pillbox (2) location which also gives access to the Blackpool South Shore Cricket Club, keep going on the lane for approximately 400M until you come to the pillbox. A wire dipole can be put up meters away in the adjacent field. 73's Ian 2E0EDX
