A gun emplacement still stands in good condition next to the Glasson branch of the Lancaster Canal. This gun emplacement was not of the 'Pill box' type design but is brick built with a concrete roof. It is positioned on a bend in the canal with excellent views of the canal in both directions and also a large flat area of open fields around the canal. This gun emplacement was for a 2 pounder anti tank gun. Note the back wall is missing so that a gun could be wheeled in and out of the emplacement. The emplacement faces open ground looking towards the A6 as this was the most probable route of an advancing enemy. The flat open fields would have become a killing ground. I again would hope to carryout a recce of this location for a suitable location to activate from. Further details to follow. 73's Ian 2E0EDX
